Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the party access places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
